Stephanie Green, RDN, is an award-winning registered dietitian, chef, and author. Her passion is in teaching people about cooking great foods and good nutrition, basically all the “kitchen essentials for a flavorful life”. She has been in the nutrition field for two decades. Her latest book is the Idiot’s Guide: Optimum Nutrition which is a nutritional handbook for anyone looking to build a good nutrition foundation. She also co-authored The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Mediterranean Diet.
Her blog features posts on seasonal recipes, cool food gadgets and new food products, gardening and of course nutrition tidbits. Stephanie also publishes her seasonal recipes in her digital publication, Green’s Cookery which highlights the fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices that are bountiful with each season. In each issue Chef Stephanie explores four key “World Flavor Profiles” taken from classic cuisines around the world and simplified into an easy to use global system of contemporary American, Asian, Mediterranean and Southwestern flavors.
“The magazine comes from my passion for showing others new ways to prepare fresh produce,” says Chef Stephanie. “I want to take readers beyond the tried and true – and into unexplored territory. Once you break the boundaries, you will find that there is so much more you can do with fruits and vegetables.”
An avid gardener since she was a child, Chef Green spends many Saturday mornings as the “5-Minute Market Chef,” teaching about seasonal produce and nutrition to shoppers at the award-wining Old Town Farmers Market in Scottsdale, Arizona. She even takes on the task of cooking “green” for your canine companions, making dinners that the whole family will enjoy!
Stephanie is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. Her background includes work as a clinical and research dietician, adjunct instructor for nutrition and culinary arts. Among her numerous distinctions, Stephanie was named Arizona’s Emerging Dietetic Leader in 2003 by the Arizona Dietetic Association. She established the first nutritionally focused cooking school in Phoenix. In 2002, the American Diabetes Association presented Chef Stephanie with the Diabetes Award for Service.
